Part 12 of 14 in How to Make Your Startup Anti-Fragile: Systems Thinking, Continuous Adaptation, and AI Tools for Indian Founders← Part 11Part 13 →
This chapter provides practical frameworks for startup founders to enhance their business resilience. It focuses on using AI tools to support decision-making and system improvements.
- Conduct a Weekly Learning Review to identify contradictions, local optimizations, and test risky assumptions.
- Maintain an Assumption Log to track and evaluate key business assumptions with AI assistance.
- Use AI to flag new data that impacts existing assumptions.
- Focus on leverage points where small changes can significantly improve learning or adaptation.
The Weekly Learning Review
Once a week, the leadership team answers three questions with AI assistance:
- What did we learn this week that contradicts our current plan?
- Which local optimizations are creating problems elsewhere in the system?
- What small experiment could test our riskiest assumption?
The Assumption Log
Maintain a living document of the key assumptions underlying the business model. For each, note the evidence for and against, and the earliest indicator that would falsify it. Review monthly. AI can flag when new data (support tickets, sales notes, market reports) bears on any assumption.
Leverage Point Hunting
Instead of asking “How do we grow faster?”, ask “Where is a small change likely to produce a large improvement in the system’s ability to learn or adapt?” Often this is information flow, incentive design, or the speed with which bad news reaches decision-makers.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Weekly Learning Review?
The Weekly Learning Review is a process where the leadership team uses AI to answer questions about learning, local optimizations, and testing risky assumptions.
How does the Assumption Log work?
The Assumption Log is a document that tracks key business assumptions, noting evidence for and against each, and uses AI to flag relevant new data.
What are leverage points in a startup system?
Leverage points are areas where small changes can lead to significant improvements in the system's ability to learn or adapt.
